How will you know if you have a wasp nest?

You will see wasps entering and leaving the nest through holes in the ground, a wall, the roof, a tree or bush, or any other part of your building. This generally takes place between May & November. Wasps nests are made of a paper mache type of material are brown or grey in colour and can vary in shape and size but are often shaped like a heart with the top being much wider than the bottom.

Why do wasp nests need to be treated?

Wasps nests do die eventually but before they do the nest will produce approximately 100 fertile queens that will hibernate and start nests the following year. Wasps nests can cause staining to ceilings and in extreme cases wasps can eat through them. In addition, each year there are deaths from wasp stings. They are not all bad and do play a part in pollination and they also feed off flies, some aphids and caterpillars. However, they can cause a massive amount of damage to fruits in the autumn months.

How will we treat the wasps nest?

We will generally use an insecticide which is an efficient way to deal with wasps nests. It is not highly toxic to other animals but is very effective with wasps. If the nest is visible and easily accessible we may also use a wasp nest destroyer that disables the nest immediately and makes it safe for removal instantly.

We do offer a chemical free alternative where we freeze the nest using a spray can that kills the nest using thermal shock rather than a insecticide

What do you need to do after wasp treatment?

The nest will be completely dead within 24 hours but activity may increase for up to 3 hours after treatment. The after an insecticide treatment you will still see wasps returning to the nest for a period of up to  24 hours. Don’t worry about this, they are just trying to get back home and will soon get the message that the nest has been destroyed.

The treated nest will never be used again.
